This year, the Poker Sports League made good on its promise. I would like to thank everyone who made this PSL grand in many ways.
Nitesh Salvi, Founder and CEO of Pocket52, Main Sponsors of PSL, Pranav Bagai, Siddharth Mishra and Prajit Gambhir, the Three Musketeers who launched PSL and have been promoting it tirelessly for five years now!
Prajit, legend. Who knows how many PSL roles you play! From the COO to the auctioneer to the commentary to make sure the concert happens every time, thanks bro and Vidura for making every pre-show and webcast so easy. I don’t know what to say about Sid and his production team. Your work is amazing! The PSL production team excelled this year. The content was great in every reel, Instagram story and update.
None of this would be possible without your great team! Dashanku, Madhure and Pandey Ji, thanks for the fantastic work and for being amazing individuals. I love the entire PSL crew and Pranav Bagai for making this happen at Jio cinema, we are working every day to bring poker to India.
All owners deserve thanks for supporting this league every year and promoting their passion for poker. This league is impossible without you!
Pocket52 Experience PSL Season 5 was unique. Everyone connects and communicates in the same resort under the same roof without having to board a ship.
The highlight for me was talking to the qualifiers from all the teams. It’s good to talk to someone who looks up to you and listens to what you have to say.
I loved meeting the Massani brothers, PSL heroes, but that’s another story. After their first domestic flight, these two boys from Bhopal won our hearts. To be honest, I loved seeing people with such confidence and excitement. I enjoyed spending time with my friends and other captains I’m close to!
The competition was great and everyone was motivated. So yeah, GG to my boys Dirty (Dhaval Mudgal) and Shardul (Parthasarathi) for the podium finishes. I assured Shardul that I would see him win this time.
One of India’s best poker players, Gaurav Sood, played the finish like a boss and made sure I was shit on the rails as he reduced the chip deficit. Mozzie, loser, we love you and know you’ll come back stronger.
Romit (Advani) and Vaibhav (Sharma) are great team leaders – win some, lose some and I’m sure we’ll see you in the top 3 next season!
Wow, my team has the best camaraderie and team spirit I’ve ever experienced. PSL adrenaline works differently. I’ve played a lot of tournaments and hit a lot of one-outs for big bucks, but PSL made me jump, scream and shout in a different way.
Making a team game out of an individual sport is brilliant! I appreciate that Mr. Puneet Mehra, Mehul Shah and Rishi have trusted me to lead this team again after a year that was disappointing. Their families, Toral ma’am Divyansh and Prerna, cheered for the Mumbai team and made our dorm the loudest and most energetic. Happy that Mehul and Rishi came down and immersed themselves in the team from start to finish.
I am very proud of my team – every point you scored helped us win and reach the final. I remember the day we reached Goa and had our first team meeting, I was really impressed with Mr. Puneet as he gave an extremely motivating team presentation on Day 1 itself which had a great impact on our team. However, my crew was extremely excited and I think we showed the victory from the first day when we took a picture of that trophy near the trophy.
Humaara wildcard Hi Alok, Biwar jaisa! Apart from keeping Akshay Nasa and Honey Bijlani, my best decision for PSL was signing Alok as my wild card. I knew Alok wouldn’t do it for the money; he wanted to play PSL, he loves strategic strategy, he threw every action on every table and he had the best team spirit in the league. Thanks mate and you’ve done a great job.
When my player Akshay Nas was asked about playing the final, he said, “I’m ready.” Easy strategy: get 250 BB in the final, send NASA and send! Ankit, our second pro, did a great job joining Nasa in the finals, scoring critical points in the live MTT and claiming we won before the league even started.
Dear Bijjlani, for working harder than the captain, bhai this team wouldn’t have won without you, I freely say that Mumbai Anchors would have kept you every year. Thank you, Nitin Gulati, for your dedication to the team and making sweatshirts and souvenirs for everyone! Simran Malhotra, my professional team Pocket52, for never letting me down as she is the best player in the league and her teamwork.
Top performance by Dhirendra Kumar and Avinash Taur for talking to the new boys, railing and taking notes while watching the stream. I was shocked when Shravan and Nikaas, the new boys, played live poker for the first time. Both excelled and scored crucial team points. Every point you made was critical to the success of this team.
With ups and downs, ups and downs, excitement and energy were high and it was the best three days of my life. Three days in a row chipkaaya but you have to get to post and Mumbai won this season. Thanks to my first mentor and my friend Sahil Mahboobani for the great performance and winning the Player of the Series.
Lifting this cup was an unforgettable experience and I want to create more memories with PSL and Mumbai Anchors!
