There are some unethical practices in the Indian industry that should be openly talked about to discourage unethical people from taking advantage of the lack of policing in our community. In this post, I would like to highlight Sahil Chutani aka “$lim$hady19” for cheating the community by doing the following nasty things:
Implementation of Ethical Standards
- Ghosting two of his mtt horses before I joined the BTR stable. $lim admitted to me on the phone right after I joined BTR that he was involved in the biggest scores of two of his horses. When I joined I banned everyone from becoming a ghost. The horses also wanted to do everything ethically and wanted to stop this bs that $lim was doing.
- Collusion in cash games. There have been instances where $lim and his cash game horse have sat in an NLHE cash game and shared their own cards. I didn’t speak against this cash game collusion because I have limited mental energy and want to allocate it to improving game integrity in MTT.
Unsubstantiated Allegations Against $lim
- Bad reg from BBZ (the stable that supported $lim before he started playing on his own) playing on the ‘bluechipp’ id assigned to him by $lim. This is really hypocritical because $lim is the one who speaks the most against foreign IDs playing on Indian sites.
- After I left BTR, $lim shut down his stable and now demands that his horses give him back 50% of their MU. Which is total fraud, the community is free to discuss it.
If we want poker in India to be a clean sport with high gaming integrity, I encourage everyone to speak up about malpractices in the industry. Cheaters have it too easy these days because there are no consequences for it. At the very least, $lim should be forced to issue a public statement about all these allegations and how he will improve his behavior in the future.
If this post has any positive impact on improving the integrity of the game, I may start an initiative where I will receive emails from people in the industry and speak out against questionable practices by players/sites, as long as there is conclusive evidence in the email of course.
Another change I’d like to see is poker sites going against ToS with preflop/postflop solvers to help players make in-game decisions. Once they do, we can police it ourselves to limit the use of s/w help in the game and make online poker as clean as possible.
